Moonrat, try her stories Who’s Irish? and her first novel Typical American, which I found to be a welcome antidote to the Amy Tan strain of Asian American fiction. (Also: I once rode in an elevator with her and her pal Grace Paley; plus I recently found a picture I’d taken of us at a reading/signing from ages ago. Good times.)
